This stone fireplace utilizes gas logs and
stands in the center of an artists studio. It has two hearths,
one opens to the large work area and the other (not seen in the view)
opens to the kitchen area. The studio side has a log shelf
below the open hearth. The kitchen side has a bread warming
oven above the hearth.
The use of gas permits a ventless heating system
that conserves all of the heat within the stone mass and then radiates
this heat slowly into the adjacent rooms. Thus, maximizing the heating efficiency of this structure.
Fireplaces of this size require about two months to build at a cost of $ 24,000 - 38,000.
