OVERALL ACADEMIC GOALS:1

1. The student will develop an understanding about science inquiry.
2. The student will develop an understanding about the nature of chemical reactions.
3. The student will gain an appreciation for the concepts of Matter, energy and organization of living systems.
4. The student will develop and understanding of the molecular basis of heredity

BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES: The student:

1. Will be able to explain the concept of "gene synthesis."
2. Will gain an understanding as to some of the mechanism whereby genetic diversity is propagated.
3. Will be able to explain the concept of mutations and their role in evolution of specie.
4. Will able to explain how the concept of gene synthesis may one day affect the field of medicine.
5. Will be gain an understanding some practical applications of understanding the 'genetic code.'
