OVERALL ACADEMIC GOALS:1
All students should develop an understanding about:
1. The nature of science inquiry.
2. Matter, energy and organization of living systems.
3. The cell.
4. Molecular basis of heredity.
BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES:
The student will be able to:
1. Define DNA and RNA and explain their differences, similarities and basic components.
2. Explain the concept of "base pairing."
3. Explain how the sequence of bases in a strand of DNA eventually is translated into protein structure.
4. Explain "puffs" and their role in DNA replication and transcription.
5. Discuss the interaction between mRNA, tRNA and rRNA.
